Combination Classroom Learning Opportunities.

I wanted to reach out to you to let you know how we design our combination classrooms to benefit every student at each grade level. First, careful consideration goes into selecting our combination grade level students. Students are selected for some of the following reasons: academic ability,
independence and social maturation, but other factors are also considered.

By the spring of every school year, we gain a great deal of knowledge about our students academically, socially and emotionally. We’ve taken time to build relationships with our students and families to better understand student needs and our parent’s perspectives. Some parents
specifically ask for an accelerated learning opportunity for their child which is an additional factor in determining student placements.

Students from both grade levels must have a high aptitude for learning and work well with their peers
and teachers. In order to support this high-level educational program, we provide two credentialed teachers in your child’s classroom. This way, students get the benefit of two educators at each grade level, working collaboratively together to meet the needs of both grade level curriculums for
high level learning.

If your child was selected for a combination classroom learning opportunity, your child’s teacher will reach out to you by phone before the start of the school year. At that time, your child’s teacher will welcome your family and answer any questions you may have.

Teachers are chosen as combination grade level teachers, who possess background knowledge in both grade level curriculums. All our teachers are considered highly qualified by the State of Idaho and our Boise School District.

Our goal is to provide the best learning environment for your child. I hope this letter helps shed some light on how our combination classes are designed for your child’s enriched learning if placed in a combination classroom.
